Recruitment

PAT Testing Expert is Hiring!

Administration Manager - £19,000 per annum

Please Note - due to a problem with our email server, applications made before 6th August may not have been received. If you applied for this position before 6th August, we would kindly request that you send your application again - apologies for the inconvenience.

Our business is in a crucial stage of its development, and we are seeking a professional, experienced administrator to run our busy office.

We are a small company with big ideas, and we need somebody flexible and capable to take care of the day-to-day running of our operation. Our current Admin Manager is moving to Australia at the end of August (we didn't drive her away, honest!), so we need somebody pretty quick! All being well you'll be in post a week or so before she goes so she can show you the ropes - but ongoing training will be provided, obviously.

Your duties will include:-

  • Organising our training courses, booking venues, accommodation dates and travel details for our trainer.
  • Processing training course orders, booking our customers onto the courses and dealing with enquiries
  • Making up course materials, booklets and handouts
  • Assisting with marketing the courses and updating the website
  • Processing orders for equipment sales and calibration
  • Ordering products and consumables
  • Dealing with payments to our suppliers
  • Helping to organise our PAT Testing Engineers, including arranging transport and dates etc
  • Processing PAT Testing results for our customers
  • Invoicing for work carried out and chasing up payments
  • Liaising with our bookkeeper and accountant
  • Anything else admin related!

This job is for you if you:-

  • Have an excellent command of the english language, both spoken and written
  • Are very organised, even when your boss isn't
  • Are able to use your own initiative and prioirtise a (very) busy workload
  • Know how to use an apostrophe and the understand the difference between 'where,' were' and 'we're'
  • Are very computer literate (but won't spend all of your spare time on Facebook or MSN)
  • Have a high level of attention to detail, without being obsessive
  • Able to communicate well with customers - with a friendly, informal but professional manner
  • Are passionate about delivering a good service (customer service is an attitude, not a department)

You don't need to be an expert in PAT Testing - at least not yet - we'll teach you all you need to know about that. However, we can't teach you people skills or common sense - hopefully you have that in spades already.

Wer'e just about to move into a new unit on Sutton Fields Industrial Estate in Hull, and we'll be sharing the space with our sister company yotari. Part of the new role will include helping to develop this company, expanding the range of products sold, and streamlining the systems (although you will be employed by PAT Testing Expert Ltd.) As yotari expands there may be opportunities to move into this company in a more senior role.

A driving licence would be useful, but is not essential. You may need to travel occasionally to courses (especially when you start - so you can see how they run) so the occasional night away might be needed. Of course, we'll provide travel and accommodation.

In return we offer a starting salary of £19,000 per annum, with 28 days paid holiday (including bank holidays) and the opportunity to join a growing company and make a real impact.

What now?
To apply please do the following:-

Send an email to tim.james@pat-testing-expert.com with three attachments:-

    • Your CV
    • Copy and paste the text on this page (just this page, not the menus) into a word-processor and highlight or correct all the (deliberate) errors of grammer and spelling that you find. After you've done that, send it to us as an attachment (ideally in pdf format but .doc or .docx is fine too.)
    • A photograph of something / someone. It could be anything; you, your favourite place, your cat, a movie star or something else that means something to you. Tell us why it's important to you. Use your imagination!
  • Tell us in your email what you're doing now (if you're working), when you would be available to start, and why we should hire you over and above the others?
  • Tell us in your email 3 ways in which a BattPAT differs from a Megger PAT320

We accept that most people who get this far down the page will look at the above and decide it's not worth the effort or the time. But then, if the above tasks are easy for you, you're already halfway to getting the job! We'd rather get 1 really good application, than have to wade through 200 CV's which have been sent to every employer in the area with a vacancy.

We'll acknowledge every application personally, and we'll be looking to interview very shortly. Please respond quickly (and no later than 13th August) if you want to be considered. Although we are a small company we aim to be an equal opportunities employer and will not discriminate on any grounds. Applicants will be considered purely on their ability to do the job and fit into our small but professional team.

Thanks for reading, and good luck!
